So what makes achieving the goals of improving client experience, generating revenue, and maximizing profits so difficult in today's times?
The pandemic has created an unpredictable economic climate. Businesses have been under tremendous pressure to change in response to competitive challenges, technological developments, financial restrictions, and demanding end-users. What further amplifies the challenges for organizations are disgruntled and disengaged Workforce, weak management and governance systems, ineffective processes and procedures, and technologies and tools prone to failure.
Let's look at the case of a hot dog stand vendor; not only has the business slowed down because of the pandemic and people staying home. He still has to continue competing with two or three other hot dog vendors on the street corners, he has to deal with financial challenges in terms of keeping his business afloat while the revenues are decreasing, and he has to deal with demanding customers who want the same level of service even though Covid restrictions are in place.
What impact do you think these challenges have on that vendor? Do you think he's going to be excited about going to work every day? Do you think he's going to greet every customer with a smile? Do you think he's going to go above and beyond what is expected of him?
What Other impacts do you think he will face when he has poor management who does not support him, when management has not made processes and procedures clear, when the hotdog stand continues to have issues with electricity, with the point of sale systems, with the refrigeration, etc.?
