You have made a great decision. Every Company has an IT department. The size of the IT department can vary from company to company in terms of the number of teams and the number of people. But all companies have an IT department, and those IT departments have some degree of issues. Largely because of issues with Operational Management.
It is weaknesses in these operational management systems that result in service disruptions. Service Disruptions can be full-blown outages such as email down across the world, or degraded service such as the Internet being slow.
The weaknesses can also result in delays in responding to and resolving issues that are occurring.
These weaknesses can result in an overall poor client experience which can lead to client attrition, employee attrition, revenue losses, reputational damage to the brand, just to name a few things.
An IT operations analyst becomes extremely important to an organization because they can harvest the data for insights that can lead to identifying where there are strengths and where there are weaknesses.
They harvest the data, they talk to the support teams, they talk to the customers, they talk to business leaders, they talk to all levels of management, in an effort to identify what is happening, why it’s happening, what will continue to happen if nothing changes, and most importantly what needs to change to deliver the expected outcomes.
The path you have chosen and the role you are pursuing is an extremely important role. As stated, every company is struggling to an extent. If you combine your communication, business, and technical skills, with domain experience, you will differentiate yourself from the pack and deliver outstanding results to your organization.
It's my goal to bring my 30+ years of global IT experience to help you acquire these skill sets and excel in your new role.
